The Rocky Mountain Printmaking Alliance (RMPA) was founded in 2009 in Idaho with the support of several printmaking friends from Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Montana, Washington, Utah and Wyoming.

There have been five symposiums spanning the Intermountain West and West Coast, with each hosting institution embracing and showcasing the printmaking community in their city. With a lot of dedication and volunteer hours, RMPA received federal non-profit status in 2020.
